“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.” Romans 15:13

That is what laughter is: carbonated holiness, divine joy that bubbles up and overflows to others! I like the sign: “You don’t stop laughing because you grow old,you grow old because you stop laughing!” How true, how true! When was the last time you had a hearty laugh? What are you waiting for? Today is the day!

Our Scripture text reminds us again of where ourjoy comes from—the Lord! We can laugh, at ourselves especially, because Christ has had the last laugh. He
has risen from the grave! Even in the midst of our
pains and problems and pettiness,it still is the Lord
who brings us joy and laughter.

Romans 15 affirms that people of all ages overflow with hope and joy … even when we do not look, feel or act like it, because it is the power of the Spirit in us.

Keep that carbonated holiness coming to us, Lord,in Word and Sacrament and through the giggles and laughter that we sense around us and in us. Amen.

Be Aware: Look for opportunities to overflow with hope today … by hugging a child, by e-mailing an old friend, by reading the comics or by just looking in the
mirror and giggling!
