The Way God Sees Things
“But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.” Samuel 16:7
When Israel wanted a king, God let them have a king based upon the people’s criteria. The people’s
choice was Saul. Saul was tall and handsome. At first he followed God, but then he started to ignore God
and take all the credit for his accomplishments. Eventually God abandoned Saul and told the prophet Samuel
that he would replace Saul with someone that met God’s criteria. God chose a young boy named David.
David would become the greatest king in Israel’s history.

When you make choices, what is your criteria?

O Lord, help me to make wise choices this day that are according to your will for me and my life. Amen.

Think: Put on new eyeglasses today and see things the way God sees them. Look at people’s hearts.
